MINUTES
TO MANAGERS MEETING
All officers and Committee Members have been retained for the upcoming
season with one exception. Dave DeSantis has replaced George Helmstetter as our League Secretary. Dave’s main function
will be to keep and maintain the League standings.
Toyota has withdrawn from the League causing a realignment in the League
for the upcoming season. Smires Real Estate has been
moved from Division I to Division II, which creates an equal number of teams in
each Division. The upcoming schedule will focus on competitiveness for all
teams and not just standard Divisional play. Additional information will be
circulated under separate cover.
JJ Stemetzki (umpires) have been retained for
the upcoming season at a cost of $45/game. Teams must give a 24-hour notice in
the event they need to forfeit a game. Failure
to do so will result in the League being charged in full for the forfeit.
At the Division II final to determine the pennant winner there was a
communication incident, which made it impossible for the teams to finalize the game.
Accordingly, the following rule has been
instituted. “Umpires must be in conjuncture
with involved managers prior to taking such actions as stoppage of
play/cancelling/postponing of games.”
After using oversized and undersized home plate mats, attempts are being
made to obtain regulation size mats of 19” by 34 ˝” .
The umpires will provide the mats for each game.
Tattoo balls will again be used. Each team will provide a new ball for
each game.
Controversy arose on the amount of major plus players that should be
allowed on a team . After debate and compromise it was
decided the teams will be allowed up to 3 players.
Not long ago the stacking rule was changed in providing more player
flexible movement. As a result of this meeting, the managers voted to return to
the previous rule. “A player may only go to a team that finished
lower in the standings than the team he is leaving Otherwise the player may sit
out 1 year and become a free agent. “A team should be limited to losing no more than 2 players in a season
due to this rule.
A
one/one count will be used for all games. The batter is allowed one additional
pitch after a 2-strike foul.
The
complete schedule will be issued at the beginning of April.
We
are awaiting the mat pricing from Sacramento before establishing the team dues
for this year. We anticipate it would be around the $825 range from last year and due June 1. Further details to follow!
