October 25:
Puss & Boots 12, Worldwide Creations 6
P&B rallied for 2 Five run innings to come out ahead and win the playoff championship with a score of 12 to 6 . It was a good game with the Wildcats going wild with back to back hits in the 1st and 3rd innings . The Gems fought back but had to settle with 3 -2 run innings . Today the ball bounced right for the Wildcats. They pounded out 26 hits and got production from the whole lineup of 14 players, all of whom contributed to a team victory. On my scorecard, there was not 1 extra-base hit by any P&B batter. Just groups of singles. Three hits by Jimmy Mendick, Herman Mitchell, Darryl Puzan, 2 hits from John Sergas, Kenny Reiss, Alan Rothenberg, Al Avello, Nate Cohen and Joe Strauss. Timely hits from Ray Giberson, Bill Russell, Ray Luer, George Terry and the final inning RBI from Padre Ted Mozes sent the Gems down to defeat. For Worldwide Creations, Bob Gotwald had 3 hits and Bob Lorincz (2B) and Ron Chiorello had 2 hits each.  Thanks to all who showed up to support both teams as the 2012 season has finally ended .

In front of a large group of League Players, an excellent defensive game was played by both teams at Von Hoffman. The Gems got a run in the 1st and P&B scored single runs in 2nd and 3rd. They followed up in the 4th with 3 runs to take a 4 run lead into the 6th when all hell broke loose and the Gems scored 4 to tie the score.  In the 7th, Bob Lorincz started it with a solid hit to right field and the rest of the team rallied with timely hitting to finally win it with 2 outs, the bases loaded and slugger Herb Spair at the bat. Herb hit a smash into the shortstop hole and the winning run scored when P&B could not make the force play at 3rd. A good game to watch and win and not so good to lose. For Worldwide, Bob Lorincz had 3 hits and Jack Dolan 2. P&B had 2 hits from Jimmy Mendick, Ray Giberson (3B) and Alan Rothenberg. Herm Mitchell had a double.
