M.E.T.S.S BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
MINUTES MARCH 22, 2017
ATTENDANCE: ALL TEAMS WERE REPRESENTED INCLUDING PAUL OLIVER AND SANDY DIDORMENICO.
ABSENT: BOB VISCARDI. HARRY ROSENTHAL, AND MIKE MICHALISIN, MEMBERS AT LARGE
TREASURER’S REPORT: David Greenberg distributed and explained all financial transactions as listed from 12/30/16 to 3/20/17. In addition, David presented the 2017 budget listing all potential expenditures and income for the season. The expenditure report and budget were unanimously approved. ( ALL TEAM DUES ARE DUE MARCH 31st and checks are payable to” DAVID GREENBERG-METSS”.
SCHEDULE: Frank Shapiro distributed and reviewed the tentative 2017 season game schedule. He noted some of the “scheduling “restrictions associated with the use of the fields and explained the concept and existence of triple doubleheaders for the Slocum Division. He especially emphasized the starting times of games. ALL A AND B DIVISION GAMES WILL START AT 10 A.M. UNTIL THE END OF JUNE. STARTING TIME FOR A AND B DIVISDON GAMES WILL BE 9:30 A.M. AFTER THAT DATE.
ALL SLOCUM DIVISON GAMES WILL START AT 9:30 A.M. ALL DOUBLEHEADERS GAMES WILL START WITH THE NORMAL BALL –STRIKE COUNT AND BE SEVEN INNINGS. ALL DOUBLE TRIPLEHEADER GAMES WILL START WITH A 1-1 BALL -STRIKE COUNT AND BE SEVEN INNINGS. Schedule was unanimously approved.
PITCHER PROTECTION: A motion was made by Bill Perlman and seconded by Sandy DiDormencio that all pitchers must wear a protective mask during pitching activities including batting practice. After much discussion on the pros and cons of masks-THE MOTION CARRIED. A second motion was introduced by Tom Rutkowski and seconded by Sandy DiDormenico that if a pitcher chooses not to wear a mask during all pitching activities including batting practice , he must sign a liability waiver assuming all responsibility for personal injury and damages and agrees to hold harmless the administrators, managers, other players, and the municipalities that provide fields. THE MOTION CARRIED.
EXPLANATION OF MANAGER’S PACKET: Based on the mask policy, Gene explained the various waiver forms and releases in their manager’s packet. It included The General Liability Insurance Waiver and Release and the Pitcher Liability Insurance Waiver and Release. All waiver releases are due after the second week of games (April 18th). If players are not available after that date, a duplicate copy will be available when they report to play. (THE NON -APPROVED BAT LIST IS THE OFFICIAL LIST THAT WE SHOULD USE TO CHECK BATS. APPARENTLY THE “ASA” HAS CHANGED ITS NAME TO” USA”. I WASN’T AWARE OF THIS UNTIL I ATTENDED A STATE MEETING ON SATURDAY MARCH 25TH).
REVIEW OF ROSTERS: The Board gave permission to Al Cheli to assign new players to any team.
