NORTH JERSEY SENIOR SOFTBALL CONFERENCE

FIELD GROUND RULES

BORO PARK #1 FIELD

1st Base Side

Out of Play:             From end of fence in front of bench on a diagonal line to light extension pole.

Goal Post:               Ball to right of goal post that rolls into parking lot is an automatic double.

When nets ARE NOT in the goal posts and a batted ball enters or goes through the

goal posts, play will continue and the ball remains in play.

When nets ARE in the goal posts and a batted ball enters the net, play will be stopped

and the batter will be credited with a ground rule double.

If ball lands in parking lot, in the air, it is an automatic home run, as we do not

want players chasing balls into the parking lot.

If ball hits any part of a goal post, the ball is in play and the runner can take as

many bases as he can.  The same holds true for any trees in fair territory.

3rd Base Side:

Out of Play:             From end of fence in front of bench on a diagonal line to corner post fence in front of bushes.

Goal Posts:              When nets ARE NOT in the goal posts and a batted ball enters or goes through the goal

posts, play will continue and the ball remains in play.

When nets ARE in the goal posts and a batted ball enters the net, play will be stopped and

the batter will be credited with a ground rule double.

If the ball bounces over the fence, it is a ground rule triple.

BORO PARK #2 (FIELD NEAR TENNIS COURTS)

1st Base Side

Out of Play:             From end of fence in front of bench on a diagonal line to light extension pole.

Goal Posts:              When nets ARE NOT in the goal posts and a batted ball enters or goes through the goal

posts, play will continue and the ball remains in play.

When nets ARE in the goal posts and a batted ball enters the net, play will be stopped

and the batter will be credited with a ground rule double.

Trees:                      If fair ball hits the tree limbs, ball is in play and it’s all the runner can get.  Not an out if

ball is caught off tree (played like a ball off a wall).
