After cruising through the regular season with just one loss,
sweeping LA Law in the semifinals, and outplaying TLC in the finals opener by
an 11 to 3 margin, Kilkenny was on their way to another easy victory in game
2 as they led 9 to 4 after five innings.
TLC's offense awoke, putting a scare into Kilkenny, in the bottom of
the 6th as they scored four times and threatened to add more before the final
out of the inning was recorded. TLC
shut down the Kilkenny bats in the top of the 7th inning, giving them a
chance to score a couple of runs and extend the series to a third game. When the first two TLC batters were out in
the bottom half of the inning, the momentum again favored Kilkenny. Refusing to concede, the next three TLC
batters delivered sharply hit singles to load the bases. A well-hit ball led to a nice fielding
play up the middle and put a dramatic finish on a storybook season for the
men of Kilkenny House. |
