|
Leading the charge for Sonia’s, Ramon Martinez knocked in the go
ahead run in the top of the 7th and Jaime Reyes made a game saving catch in the bottom of
the 7th to save the game with 2 runners on base. John Rachko and Jerry Isolda led the Rocky offense going 4 for 4, with the defense being solid throughout. |

House 21, Futon World 9 |
The TapMen scored 6 runs in the 3rd inning to take the lead
9 to 4 and outscored their opponent 12 to 5 over the last four innings to
earn the victory. At the plate for
Linwood, Ronnie Patterson had 4 hits (HR), Dave Dudas went 4 for 4 (two 3B, 7 RBI), and Kevin Robinson
and Steve D'Amato added 3 hits
each. Contributing two hits apiece
were Brian Latham, Richard Sergeant (HR) and Shawn Smith. Dave Dudas pitched a masterful game. For the Futon Boys, Billy Restaino (HR),
Pat Peterpaul (HR) and Dave Wayman all smacked 3 hits. Linwood Leads the series 1-0. |

Doug Fischer took the hill for Deegan and blanked the Boyz in
four consecutive innings as the Roofer defense flashed the leather with some
nifty defense behind him. Hitting stars for Deegan were Nelson Santiago
(3 for 4, 3R), Damon Roth (3 for 4, HR, 3R, 4RBI), Scott Mugele (3 for 4, HR,
2B, 2R, 2RBI), and Tom Baldowski (2 for 2, two 2B, 3R, 2RBI.) Deegan Roofing Leads the series 1-0. |

& Vision 21, Cranford VFW 6 |
The powerful CLV offense was led by Pablo Olivares with 5 hits,
as Neil Kaufman (HR, 3B) and Carmelo Garcia (3B) added 4 hits each. Tim Walsh had 3 hits including a bases
clearing double while Mike Ramirez, Tony Grabowsky, Matt Kasper, Mike Medina,
Steve Wieczerak and Kerry Gelb all contributed. Sparkling defense from
shortstop Tommy Dilardo and Mike Ramirez led to 3 double plays in support of
the pitching of Wieczerak. Pablo Olivares
was spectacular in left field. The 16
hits pounded out by the VFW was just not enough, with Juan Moreno, Dan
Ravetier, Jeff Nicholls, John Rubinetti and Bob Ghiretti leading the charge. |

After trailing 9-1 midway through the game, the Douglas VW bats
came alive as they chipped away each inning until ultimately taking the lead
in the bottom of the 6th. The VW hitting attack was led by Pat Mooney
(3 for 3), Mike Shriner (3 for 4) and Geno Antonucci (3 for 4). Also contributing 2 hits were Al Genova,
Mike Hoffmann, Billy Buteau and Rich Gaul. Farlan Alusik had the game
winning hit with a go ahead two out single in the bottom of the 6th. The
offensive highlight for Jun’s was Joe Oporto hitting the fence in left three
times on consecutive ABs. John Segledi was 3/4 at the plate as
well. Defensively, Bruce Evans was in form at first with several
nice picks and an alert 1-3 DP on a liner back to the pitcher. Dave
Eckert displayed his strong right arm with accurate throws to second from
right field. Douglas VW Leads the

Suspenders 16,
AJ Jersey 15 |
AJ jumped out to a 13 to 4 lead in the top of the 3rd, but
Suspenders batted around in the bottom of the 3rd. Then in the bottom
of the 7th, with a walk off line drive single into left by
Frank Verducci, the Pubmen pulled out the win. Pounding out 28 hits, Suspenders had Roy
Alexander go 5 for 5 (HR, 3RBI) and Frank Verducci went 4 for 5 (2RBI). Ricky Gregorio (3B, two 2B), Joe Michael (2H, 5RBI), Angelo Puerari (HR,
3RBI) supported another great performance on the mound for Carl Herman who
added 3 hits and 3 RBIs in his own cause.
For AJ, Jeff Hoffman, Gary Roman, Greg Hobson and Chuck Serafin had 3
hits each. Suspenders leads the series

22, Futon World 2 |
Linwood plated 6 runs in the first frame and never looked back,
cruising to victory. At the plate, in support of another great
pitching performance from Dave Dudas, Ronnie Patterson had 4 hits
(HR), and Mark Hochenberg, Steve D'Amato, Tim Mulhall and Shawn Smith
each had 3 hits. Kevin Robinson and
Richard Sergeant (bases loaded blast out the park) added two hits
apiece. |

semifinals. |

Rocky’s bounced back strong in game 2 with
every batter crossing the plate and contributing to the offense. Larry Pacifico had 2 triples, Dave
Martorano added a single, double and triple, Bill Hillyer had 3 singles, and
Jerry Isolda contributed a double and 2 singles to spark the Barmen. Series
tied 1-1. |

Steve Wieczerzak’s great pitching and perfect 3 for 3
hitting led CLV to victory. Pablo
Olivares was also perfect with 3 hits.
Triples from Kerry Gelb, Vance Barfield and Jimmy Sydlo, and two hits
each from Tony Grabowsky, Neil Kaufman, Tommy Dilorndo and Cobra Medina added
to the offense. Great defense from Tim
Walsh, Tommy Dilorndo, Mike Ramirez, Neil Kaufman and Cobra Medina carried
Contact Lens to victory. Joe Mascali
and John Rubinetti were notable at the plate for VFW. |

Driftwood #2 16, Garwood Metal 9 |
Linda’s led by a score of 5-0 after 4 innings and then stretched
the lead to 11-0 with a six spot in the top of the 6th. As has been the
case all season, the Metal Men battled back to 11-7 but fell short. Garwood Metal was led by Don Montefusco and
Jose Jiminez with 3 hits apiece.

|
Garwood jumped in front in the 1st inning, scoring 5 runs to
grab a 5-0 lead. Linda's cut the lead to 7-4 at the end of 4 innings but the
Metal Men withstood the heat and scored 4 runs to take an 11-4 lead into the
7th inning. Linda's D rallied but fell short in the bottom of the 7th
inning. The Metal Benders were led by
Ron Kulik and Whitey McCormack with 3 hits apiece. Series tied at 1 game
each. |

& Grill 23, Sonia’s BCE 10 |
Rocky’s, enjoying a total team effort with two 6 run innings and
two 5 run innings, along with a strong defense, advances. Every Rocky player crossed the plate and
contributed a hit. Rocky’s Bar &
Grill wins the series 2-0 to move to the B Division Semifinals. |
Douglas VW 21,
Jun’s Pro Service 13 |
It was a back and forth game the whole way with a shorthanded
Jun's team fighting to the very end. It took until the 6th inning for the
Douglas VW bats to take control and then the defense finally shut it
down. Leading the way for Douglas was
Rich Gaul both on the mound and with his bat going 4 for 4. Also collecting 3 hits for Douglas were Al
Genova (3B), Geno Antonucci, Dan Righetti (2B, 3B, HR), Mario Lopez and
Hector Munoz. Reaching base 4 times
were Farlan Alusik and Harold Zayas. Billy Bureau hit a monster home
run to nail it shut in the 7th. For Jun’s Walt Patrylo went 5 for 5
including a home run and some solid 3rd base defense, Pete Matarazzo turned a double play at 2nd while hitting missiles
to center, Jose Lora provided a valiant effort on the mound for the
first time this summer and hit a monster triple, Robbie Stratton provided
solid hitting and fielding at short while stalwarts John Segledi/Tom
Ulichny/Dave Eckert once again were the heart and soul of our team effort
providing the speed and athleticism to cover the vast outfield 3-handed. Douglas VW Wins the Series 2-0 to move to
the A Division Finals. |

AJ Jersey 9 |
For Suspenders, Erik Hastrop went 3 for 4 (2-2B, 2RBI, 4R),
Ricky Gregorio (2H, 3B, 3RBI), and Brad Steele (2H, 3 RBI). Angelo Puerari, Carl Herman and Bob
Dlugosz each had 2 hits with rest of team getting 1 hit each. Great team defense highlighted by a
few good grabs by LC Roy Alexander in support of spot-on pitching by Carl
Herman. Leading the AJ attack were
Greg Hobson going 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs, while Steve Hobson and Rob Rowland
both went 3 for 4. Suspenders wins the Series 2-0 to move into the C Division
Finals. |

|
Deegan pitcher Peter Appolito hurled a strong game behind some
flawless defense with two double plays turned and yet another stellar play by
catcher Joe Sheridan. Hitting stars for the Roofers were Damon Roth (4
for 4, 2R, 2RBI), Scott Mugele (3 for 4, 2 3B, 2B, 3R, 2RBI) and Marty
Bernstein (3 for 4, 3RBI). Highlights
offensively for Douglas VW were Dan Righetti (2B, 2 triples) and Al Genova who were both 3 for 4 while Farlan
Alusik went 3 for 3. Gino Antonucci
and Mike Shriner each collected 2 hits. |

Plumbing 13, Contact Lens & Vision 8 |
Carmelo Garcia, with a perfect 3 for 3 including a homer
and 2 triples, and Tim Walsh with 2 hits, led the Contact Lens attack. All Pipes leads the B Division Semifinals
series 1-0. |

House 8, Rocky’s Bar & Grill 2 |
The Linwood victory was achieved with two 4 run rallies started
by the bottom of the batting order and 3 double plays on defense. At the plate for The Tap House, Shawn
Smith, Tim Mulhall, Mark Grossman (triple), and Brian Latham (4 RBIs) had two
hits each. Ron Patterson hit an out of
the park 2 run homer. Dave Dudas limited Rocky’s hitters to less than a dozen
hits. Linwood leads
the B Division Semifinals series 1-0. |
Garwood Metal
14, Linda’s Driftwood #2 6 |
Garwood Metal took the rubber game of their 3-game series,
defeating Linda's Driftwood by a score of 14 to 6. The Metal Men broke
open a close 7-4 game by scoring 6 runs in the fifth inning and never looked
back. The Driftwood men rallied for a couple in the last inning but
fell a little short in this hard-fought series. Garwood was led by Ron Kulik, Carey
Durrett, Don Montefusco, Greg Hartnett and Rory Caldwell, each with 3
hits. Rocky Pencinger, Jose Jimenez and Greg Hartnett added triples for
the Metal Benders. Bill McCormack made
some outstanding plays at third base.

Douglas VW 11,
Deegan Roofing 6 |
After a back and forth battle for five innings, the Douglas VW
bats woke up in the bottom of the 6th, scoring six runs to take the lead for
good. The stars of the game for VW were on defense with the outfield of
Al Genova, Hector Munoz, Dan Righetti and Bill Buteau all making incredible
catches to shut down the fierce Deegan offense. In the infield, Ralph Genova played a
lights out 2B and Rich Gaul picked up the win on the mound. Offensively
Farlan Alusik led the way going 3 for 3 while Al Genova, Mike Shriner, Ralph
Genova, Dan Righetti and Bill Buteau all picked up 2 very big timely hits
throughout the game to keep the offense rolling. For the Roofers, Damon
Roth had a single, double and a triple. Charlie Collins and Kevin
Spellman contributed two hits each.
The A Division Finals tied at 1-1. |

& Vision 26, All Pipes Plumbing 12 |
Anthony Miccio pitched and hit (3H) Contact Lens to
victory. Other CLV notables at the
plate were Neil Kauffman a perfect 5 for 5 (3B, 2B), Carmelo Garcia, Vance
Barfield (3B) and Jim Sydlo each with 4 clutch hits. Pablo Olivares, Tim
Walsh and Kerry Gelb added 3 hits apiece.
Great defense and two hits each from Tony Grabowsky and Mike
Ramirez. Tim Walsh played a great
short and dazzled in the field.
For the Plumbers, Alan Dente went 4 for 5 while Chris Jones and Matt
Hoynowski each were 3 for 4. B Division Semifinals tied at 1-1. |

Rocky's 8 run 7th inning rally was not enough to overcome a 14
run Tap House lead. At the plate
for the Tap Men, Mark Hochenberg was 4 for 4, Kevin Robinson and pitcher Bill
Sharkey were 3 for 3, Mark Grossman and Steve D'Amato (HR) both contributed 3
hits. Adding two hits each were Ron
Patterson, Tim Mulhall, Paul Cassidy and Dave Dudas. Richard Sergeant hit a home run. Linwood Tap House wins the B Division Semifinals series
2-0. |
Suspenders 23,
Garwood Metal 7 |
After Garwood jumped out to an early 3-1 lead, Suspenders plated
6 runs to never look back. The Pubmen
batting fourth through sixth scored a total of 16 runs while the entire
lineup blasted 28 hits. The team
defense was dazzling in support of Carl Herman who pitched another
superlative game. Leadoff hitter Erik Hastrop went 5 for 5 (3 R, 3RBI),
Angelo Puerari went 4 for 4 with a blast into the street, Brad Steele went 4
for 5 (4 RBI), Tony Taddeo, Ricky Gregorio, Roy Alexander, Carl Herman, Dave
Reid and Frank Verducci all chimed in with 2 hits. Suspenders leads the C Division Finals
series 1-0. |

Deegan Roofing
12, Douglas VW 11 |
|
Damon Roth continued his torrid playoff hitting going 3 for 3
with two doubles and a triple. Kevin
Spellman, Marty Bernstein and Tom Baldowski provided two hits each for the
Roofers. Nelson Santiago struck the big blow with a 3-run homer in the
fifth and made an outstanding defensive play in the 6th. The VW boys, with the tying run left on
third and the go ahead run on first, could not have battled any harder in
this heartbreaking loss. Mike Shriner
(2B, 3B) and Pat Mooney (2B) led the Douglas attack, both going 4 for 4. Also contributing were Mike Hoffman and
Farlan Alusik, both 3 for 4, and Rich Gaul (3 for 3) who also kept the fierce
Deegan hitting attack under control all day by shining on the mound.
Deegan Roofing Wins the Series 2-1 and is A Division Champs for the 8th consecutive
year. |
Suspenders 14,
Garwood Metal 6 |
The Pubmen drew first blood in the top of the first with a two
out 3 run homer over the left field fence by third basemen Angelo
Puerari, his second HR in the finals.
Angelo finished 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs.
Leadoff hitter Erik Hastrop continued his hot streak in the
playoffs going 3 for 4 (2B, 2RBI), Ricky Gregorio 3 for 3, Bob Dlugosz 2 for
4, while leftfielder Frank Verducci and Dave Reid were both 2 for 3 with 2
RBIs. The rest of team chipped in with
1 hit each for a team total of 21 hits (48 hits total in 2 games). Suspenders' team defense and great pitching
by Carl Herman throughout the playoffs brought home the championship. The Metal Men, never giving up, mounted a
4-run rally in the bottom of the 7th frame. Don
Montefusco and Bill McCormack sparked the Garwood attack with 2 hits
each. Suspenders Wins the Series and C
Division Championship 2-0. |

Innings) |
The Victors were led by Alan Dente (walk off hit in 9th) and Mario
Fastiggi, each with 4 hits. Dennis
Maluchnik and Chris Jones added 3 hits each.
For the Tap House, Mark Grossman was 4
for 4. Brian Latham, Steve D'Amato and
Kevin Robinson had 3 hits each. Adding
to the offense were Bill Sharkey, Richard Sergent, Slope Rzewuski and
Dave Dudas with 2 hits apiece. All Pipes Leads the Series 1-0. |

Linwood built an early 18 to 7 lead, plated 4 more in the 6th, and then held
off a late inning comeback attempt by a never say die Plumbing squad that
scored 11 runs in the final innings.
At the plate for the Barmen were Steve D’Amato, Richard Sergent, Brian
Latham all with 4 hits. Eddie
Kaminski, pitcher Dave Dudas and Kevin Robinson (3 for extra bases) added 3
hits each. All Pipes were led by Joe
Han, Brian Clark, Chris Morrison, Vinny Rappa and Chris Jones, all with 4
hits. The Series is Tied at 1 Game
Each. |

House 16, All Pipes Plumbing 11 |
The Tap Boys took an early 3 to 2 lead and kept the pedal to the
metal both at the plate and in the field to take the deciding game over a
determined Plumbing squad. Leading the
attack were Bill Sharkey, Kevin Robinson, Steve D’Amato (3-2B) and Rich
Sergent all with 4 hits. Mark Grossman
(2-3B) and Tim Mulhall added 3 hits each, while Brian Latham and Dave Dudas,
who played a great defensive game at first, pounded 2 hits apiece. Brian Clark and Alan Dente led the spirited
All Pipes attack with 4 hits each.
