Tad Pools defeated an under manned K-Squad with all 11 Tads contributing on offense and defense to the cruise onto victory.
Deegan Roofing 15, Suspenders 3
On a hot and muggy night, Deegan Roofing coasted to an easy 15-3 victory over Suspenders 15-3. Rick Gregorio, Pat Peterpaul, Angelo Puerari, and Greg Herzfeld each had 2 hits in the loss.
Phenomenal Boyz 22, Car Revolution 18
Thirsty Turtle 22 AJ Jersey 6
Thirsty Turtles’ 25 hit attack was led by Tom Klein (4 hits,6 RBI’s, HR), Carl Gamba (4 hits, 3 Doubles), John Fiore (4 Hits, 3 RS), and Steve Owens (HR, 4 RBI’s). Chris Kaminski contributed 3 hits and 3 RBIs alongside his unwavering pitching. Overall solid defense by the entire squad contributed to their victory as the Turtles keep rolling. AJ Jersey was led by Rob Denner with 3 hits, while Mario Fastiggi and Miguel Ramos each contributed with 2 hits of their own.
Rocky’s Bar & Grill 11, Terawulf 8
In their second matchup of this season, Rocky’s prevailed over B division rival, Terawulf. The Barmen’s offense had several players go 2 for 3 including Craig Michaud ( 2RBI’s, 2RS), Larry Pacifico (HR, 2B, 2RBI’s , 2RS), and Dave Grandmaison (HR).
Douglas VW 23, Echo Tap & Grille 7
A few early raindrops gave way to a hot and humid night at Warinanco Park where A division leaders Douglas VW cruised to a 23-7 victory over Echo Tap & Grille. Leading the way for Douglas VW was Carmelo Garcia going an outstanding 5 for 5 on the night that included a homer and 2 doubles. Right behind Carmelo was Geno Antonucci who registered 5 hits of his own. Other big contributors included Al Genova and Hector Munoz who each had 4 base knocks. Luke Nacca and Willie Shumate didn’t shy away from the offense tacking on 3 hits of their own. A big home run by Billy Buteau was key in Douglas VW’s win. As for Echo Tap & Grille they elected to deploy an 11th fielder rather than accept the 5 runs. This move allowed them to go the distance where Lloyd Haymes and Eddie Engram would both go 2 for 3. Greg Thomas was 1 for 1 with 2 walks and Deuce Brown was 1 for 2.
Douglas VW 31, Angry Joe’s/Tad Pools 23
In a battle between two of the league’s A division teams, the sun played a huge blinding factor, in what turned into a 50 plus run scoring fest. Ultimately, the Douglas crew held on for a hard-fought victory. The offensive engine was led by Justin Doyle who was 6 for 6, including a home run and two doubles. Not to be out done, Al Genova, Chris Yee, Lou Rivera and Steve Steransak all had 5 hits on the night. Honorable mentions go out to Hector Munoz 4 hits, Geno Antonucci 3 hits, Mike Hoffmann 3 hits, Billy Buteau 3 hits and Carmelo Garcia 3 hits. At the plate for Angry Joe’s/Tad Pools, Vinnie Rappa had 5 hits, Tim Mulhall, Matt Kasper, and Joe Kilburg each had 4 hits apiece, while Anderson Monzon, Steve Bertono and Keith Karyczak had 3 hits apiece.
Phenomenal Boyz 13, Deegan Roofing 12
Phenomenal Boyz had 7 straight hits in the bottom of the 7th inning with Joe Rosa providing the game winning hit. Issac Durant, Rob Ellington, Keith Harris, Marion Hudson and Willie Solar all had 3 hits for the Phenomenal Boyz.
Thirsty Turtle 22, Suspenders 17
In a wild and very competitive back and forth game, Thirsty Turtle came out on top over Suspenders 22-17. Through 5 innings of play the game was tied at 11, Thirsty Turtle then scored 3 runs in the top of the 6th to retake the lead but it was short-lived as Suspenders countered with 6 runs of their own, thanks to a huge 3-run blast by Brad Steele. In the top of the 7th and down by 3, the Turtles scored 8 runs putting the pressure back on Suspenders who came up short. Thirsty Turtles’ Dave Pringle had the big hit during the 7th inning rally with a booming 2- run triple. Tom Klein led the way with 5 hits, 5 runs scored and 5 RBI. Bob Ghiretti had 4 hits, while Chris Kaminski, Dan Ravetier, and Steve Owens, all had 3 hits to pace the Turtles 28-hit attack. For Suspenders, Nick Meltzer and Bob Duglotz had 4 hits apiece while Carl Herman, Brad Steele, Matt Greenblatt, Pat Peterpaul, and Greg Hertzfeld added 3 hits apiece in the loss.
Rocky’s Bar & Grill 18, K-Squad 6
Rocky’s Bar & Grill defeated a short-handed K-Squad team at Rahway Park. Several players contributed with the offense including Laquan “Fu” Gray and Dave Grandmaison, both going 3 for 3 on the night. Greg Solomon, Larry Pacifico, Tom DiGregorio and Bob Howlett all went 2 for 3, and Ellan Ben-Hayon knocked in 5 RBI’s and crossed the plate 3 times.
Terawulf 22, Echo Tap & Grille 21
In a nailbiter, on a beautiful summer evening at Tremley Point, Terawulf held off a last inning charge from Echo Tap & Grille to hold on for a 22-21 victory. It all came down to the bottom of the 7th inning when Echo Tap had runners on base in scoring position, 2 outs and a walk off victory within reach, when Terawulf’s SS, Diego Elliot, ran down a short fly ball in shallow left to seal the win. Leading the offense for the barmen were Dr Rob Wallace and Gary Kinder who each were 4 for 5, Dave P Handleman and Chad Eisenberger each had 3 hits and Eddie Engram went 3 for 3 with a BB. Despite Echo Tap’s strong efforts, Terawulf improved to 11-9 heading into the final stretch of the season. Terawulf’ s offense was led by Luis Palanco who had 2 home runs, one for a grand slam, and the other for a 3-run blast. Luis finished the night with 7 RBIs in the 27-hit group attack where every batter had at least one hit. Jose Cortes was a perfect 4 for 4 while Sean Dolan was 3 for 4 and Sammy Bori, Pedro Montes and CP Arnaldo contributed with 2 hits and strong defense.
AJ Jersey 24, Car Revolution 11
AJ Jersey was led by Ray Luciano and Rob Denner who each had 5 hits, followed Vinny Cordaro, Don Sheey, and Alan Dente with 4 hits each. Mario Fastiggi, Craig Weinstein and Chris Morrison had 3 hits apiece.
