Plains: Edward M. Ganczewski, Sr, 77, died September 1, 2008 at Center for Hope
Hospice in Scotch Plains. Born in
Chicago, IL, he lived in Scotch Plains for the past 42 years.
Mr. Ganczewski was a veteran US Army and earned his BA from Alliance College in
Cambridge Springs, PA in 1953, where he was a member of Tau Sigma Pi. He was employed as a product manager,
district manager and salesman with Thomas & Betts Co. in Elizabeth for 37
years before retiring in 1992.
He was active as a little league coach in Scotch Plains and coached Pony League
Basketball. He was Past President and
board member of Senior League baseball, coached Senior League All Stars, and
played in senior softball in many local and national championships. He was also a former member of the
Scotchwood Lodge F. & A.M.
He is survived by his wife, Vera; his son, Edward M. Ganczewski, Jr. and his
wife, Leslie, of Cranford; two daughters, Susan Barry and her husband, Paul, of
Hillsborough, and Carol Ganczewski of Scotch Plains; his sister, Christine
Myles and her husband, Mike, of Downers Grove, IL; and four grandchildren,
Kevin, Meghan and Michelle Barry, and Alyssa Ganczewski.
Services were held at Memorial Funeral Home, Fanwood followed by a private Cremation.
