Louis A. Vespasiano, 73

 

Louis A Vespasiano, 73, an attorney at law for 43 years, died at the age of 73 on Jan. 13, 2008, after removal of a Glioblastoma brain tumor on July 3,2007.

 

Throughout his career, Mr. Vespasiano practiced every area of law from adoptions to zoning.  In addition, he served as First Assistant Corporation Council for the city of Newark under former Corporation Council Anthony Iuliani, more recently Superior Court Judge Anthony Iuliani.  During this time, he handled foreclosures, tax collections, briefs, DWIs, some Superior Court work and occasionally some workman's compensation cases, tax appeals, etc. Lou was also legal counsel and third vice president of the Federation of Italian American Societies of New Jersey.

 

Over the past 17 years, Louis played, managed and sponsored his softball team "LA LAW" of the Union County Senior Softball League. He was also an assistant to the president of the league and a director of the New Jersey Senior Softball Association.

 

He was predeceased by his daughter, Debra Ann Roller, of Bradford, Pa., who died of cancer on July 4, 2007. He was also predeceased by his sister, Yolanda Best, and his brother, Anthony, who was killed in 1944 during World War II.

 

Born of immigrant parents, his father arrived in the U.S. in 1907 from the Abruzzse of Italy, while his mother came from Messina, Sicily. They met in Jersey City, got married and had six children. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Marie, and his three sons, Anthony of Seymour, Conn., Michael of Chatham, along with his wife, Christina, and Kenneth of Los Angeles, Calif.; his three step-children, Janine D'Addario of North Plainfield, Salvatore D'Addario and his wife, Kim, of Forked River and Anthony D'Addario and his wife, Lisa, of Bayville. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, Michael, Christopher, Stephan, Olivia,

Karen, Jianna, Jennifer, Jiovani, Jessica and Emily. He is also survived by his three sisters, Marie Hackett, Adeline, Bums and Claire Resciniti, her husband, John; his nephew, John Resciniti Jr., and many other nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
